Can I self-diagnose Sleep Apnea- or bother being tested?
I’ve gone to a doctor before about tiredness and waking up tired – the last time I got a blood test done and everything was fine and the doctor didn’t do anything else. Since then I’ve moved house and have another doctor. I went to him and again he wants to start with a blood test. I’m pretty sure this will still be normal. He says that most patients leave it at that and don’t want further tests. I guess if I don’t have high blood pressure (which he tested) and my blood values are normal the chances are high that it’s stress causing the tiredness. Should a bother making another appointment with my GP and asking to go to a Sleep Center? (It seems like patients are discouraged to do this) Can I diagnose sleep apnea myself – for example by recording my own Snoring and seeing if I stop breathing?
Thanks
No you need an overnight Sleep Study. Once diagnosed, you go for a second night to titrate the cpap or bipap machine. Blood tests will show nothing. Go see a sleep specialist.
