What exactly is Narcolepsy?
I know there are three major Sleep Disorders. Insomnia, Sleep Apnea and Naroclepsy. But which is exactly narcolepsy. I took most of it, but I do not understand everything.
As a professional mental health + 20 years of experience, I have to say two things. The first is that in my "not-so-humble" opinion, I think the last three of his first four answers are best. If you want a "deep" answer, look in the diagnosis of 562-567 American Psychiatric Association and Statistical Manual (DSM) of Mental Disorders, which all of these diagnoses come. As a "gift", I will say that the "Diagnostic criteria for narcolepsy are: (page 567 in the edition pocket of the DSM attacks A. large) of irresistible sleep that occur daily for at least 3 months. B. The presence of one or two of the following: (1) cataplexy (Ie, brief episodes of bilateral muscle tone loss suddenly, usually in association with intense emotion) (2) recurrent intrusions of elements of movement Rapid Eye (REM) in the transition between sleep and wakefulness, as manifested by either or hypnagogic hallucinations or paralysis hypnopompic sleep at the beginning or end of sleep episodes C. The disturbance is not due to the direct physiological effects of a substance (eg, a drug of abuse, a medication) or other general medical condition. Wow, I never gave an answer so accurate! And secondly, when I start my practice, the medical director of a psychiatrist who was between narcolepsy and was only 4 feet 10 inches, and when she slept, never bowed his head because his head was barely above the level of the table, and when were effective in our case, I never knew when he was asleep or awake. But the worst thing you could do is assume that she was asleep and neglected to report their patients, because suddenly to ask a question about something, he said, you'd better know the answer. As is narcolepsy from diagnosis to personal knowledge / a professional. God bless. (I hope you do not sleep during this long explanation.) Lol.

I'm not that type of surgery was effective because I still Snore, I have Sleep Apnea. I do not know if I have sleep apnea at age 11 or if it was just snoring. For some, which has sleep apnea now.
I thought surgery was when someone has their adenoids taken'm not really sure what the medical term for this specific "out.I surgery but I'm pretty sure that the person has his / her adenoids to help prevent / reduce snoring. And, the health problems associated adenoid problems. Young children began to Snore almost 4?
We had a dust storm about a week ago, and I realized my daughter started having trouble breathing at night only. during the day is fine. Doctor put on bronchodilator drug allergies and 5 days. After his breathing was much better, but the noise remained. What should I do? I worried a lot and Sleep in his room, but now I can sleep in my room, but still do not know what the next step in their treatment or let it grow out of it. I put an air filter that is also a humidifier in your room, a cold, and live in a place where dust storms are common 2 or 3 times per month, in the days of light powder. pretty nasty. But during the day when their breathing is good. Adviser please. thanks. she always slept a lot before, almost to the point where you do not hear him breathe and I to see her … all moms are not they:)
It may have an allergy to dust. Talk to your doctor about the drugs test Allergy night. And no, most mothers do not see a reason to see that there are four young people per year during the night. If you still have a baby monitor in her room, get rid of it. Only worry when she is Sleeping peacefully and is taken as hoarse. I stopped to check on my children at night when they were 4 or 5 months. Unless you cried or got sick.

What are the treatments for Sleep Apnea?
My boyfriend has Sleep Apnea And Snoring. It gets worse. I do not know what to do. seems that when the curve is stopped temporarily, but not enough for me to sleep. It is often so late that not only keeps me awake, but once I fall asleep I wake up again. HELP!
Sleep apnea should be diagonsed a Sleep Clinic in good standing. There may be another reason for your snoring as weight, etc. The usual treatment is to sleep with an air flow positive machine (I called CPAC. If you stop breathing your oxygen level drops and can be a problem very dangerous to health. Let's see a doctor specializing in Sleep Disorders.

Sleep Apnea or something else?
I have had a problem for months now where several times a week I wake up in the middle of the night in a panic. I suddenly jump up to a sitting position and take one really loud scary sounding big gasp for air. I usually calm down immediately (maybe because I’m so used to it). I don’t Snore at all, have no other medical conditions, I’m 20, in good health… I’m not sure if it is sleep apnea (since I never snore), Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (it only really started happening after a traumatic event happened a few months ago in my life), or something else. Any opinions? I plan on getting it checked out by a doctor when I have the money.
Not sure how you know you do not snore, and may want to get a ‘voice activated’ tape recorder to see if you do in fact snore.
Suspect this big gasp of air occurs when you are laying on your back, as opposed to laying on your side. It could be that the back of the tongue blocks the airway, or perhaps you are forgetting to breathe. Can also try a body pillow pushed behind your back to keep you on your side, and try a pillow that is conducive to side Sleeping.
Speaking with a doc about this will invariably entail being sent for a Sleep Study, especially if you are having symptoms during waking hours which would include being tired, lack of energy, etc. Can ask the doc if you can just have an oxygen study (oximeter).
Do try to deal with your stressors…..medication for sleep or antidepressants could be prescribed, but what good would that do if stressors aren’t addressed?
